Trusting you.

When you're little, it's a pinky promise.
Middle School. You swear you won't tell.
When in high school, you can pour your whole heart into someone. And there are no swears, no pinky promises, you just have to trust they care about you enough to not let you down.

It's funny how you can let all your opinions, and memories, secrets, and life goals be carefully recited to a special person, and it makes you closer. It's funny how when they let you down, those secrets can just as easily tear you apart.

You can have a strong comfort level with people, but give it time, and distance, and the bond, kind of like worn string, starts to unravel, until it is just a thread.

Trust.

I feel like as careful as you can be, and as much thought as you put into a person. You can always be let down. But this is necessary. I know what it's like to be let down, and I know I would never want any of my friends to feel this way.

Trusting you.

Trusting you taught me that..
I need to be more careful. That these things happen.
